Cool CAMEL Cigarette Clothes Collection at Metropolis Vintage!

Do you remember the era of CAMEL cash? Attached to each Camel cigarette pack about be a certain amount of $$ with Joe Camel in the center, eventually redeemable for anything from hats, to T-Shirts, to a pool table.    My Uncle was the king of Camel cigarette collecting and had a mountain of it, with which he could have probably bought a Camel Ferrari.  I do rememeber he had a sweet leather bomber jacket.  We haven’t found one of those YET – but we’re still looking.  In the meantime, Metropolis Vintage has plenty of rare CAMEL Cigarette and Joe Camel T-Shirts and items waiting here for you.   Worth checking out and you don’t even have to go back in time and collect all those packs!

Vintage DENIM JACKETS from METROPOLIS – Made to outlast their owner!

First created by Levi Strauss in 1873 to serve as a rugged protective layer for prospectors and cowboys, the denim jacket has remained durable, dependable, and popular throughout the years. Don’t take our word for it – a Levis historian recently discovered a jacket dating back to the 1880’s in an abandoned Southern California ghost town. They’re simple, effective and cool, and apparently will even outlast their owner by a century or so. While we’ve got nothing going so far back as the 1880’s, METROPOLIS VINTAGE always has a stock of classic denim jackets waiting on the rack. If they’ve worked for Dennis Hopper and The Marlboro Man, they’ll certainly work for you!

Just getting STARTED with more of our STARTER JACKETS

You, the people of METROPOLIS, tell us what you like, and hands down, one of the major league favorites of recent years has been the STARTER JACKET.  Teams? Leagues? Sports? It doesn’t matter, it’s about the player, not the game.  It’s about looking good while supporting your team.  We’ve got a huge amount of STARTER and other sports jackets from the ’80s and ’90s.

METROPOLIS Christmas Window by JAMES & KARLA MURRAY

Metropolis Vintage is honored to have our Christmas window captured by James & Karla Murray for their collection of the best East Village storefront windows this year!  The Murrays have made their name photographing the changing face of NYC over the past few decades.  Check out their photo books for some really cool, old world signage and remnants of old New York!

Return of the Long Sleeved Rock Shirts

A staple of the 1990’s, the long sleeved rock shirt adorned many a grunge kid and any skateboarder worth his salt.  Lately, this tradition seems to have been taken over by the metal crowd, but we at Metropolis Vintage have been collecting these for some time now and think the public is ready for them once again!  We’ve unearthed a huge batch which we’ve just put out on the racks so you can replace the short sleeve version with the longer, winterized model.
