You may have already seen the news, but the sensational ROSÉ of BLACKPINK stopped into Metropolis the other day to search out some new pieces.  She was all smiles, no pink venom anywhere, just oversized jackets, posing in our dressing room and dancing in front of the mirror.

METROPOLIS VINTAGE CLOTHING

Known for its celebrity clientele – including power-couple Rhianna and A$AP Rocky – Metropolis Vintage is primarily known for their 90s nostalgia aesthetic and huge selection of vintage t-shirts. First operating out of flea markets across the city in the 80s, founder Richard Colligan’s concept came to fame when his first brick-and-mortar opened in 1990. Now, in addition to stellar band tees (which are sectioned off similar to a record store – by genres, artists, and era), shoppers can explore loads of leather and letterman jackets, sports jerseys, and accessories.

Huge thanks to everyone who came out to celebrate the kickoff of THREAD87 this weekend and helped make it such a raging success. Hosted by METROPOLIS VINTAGE and EAST COAST CONNECTION, the goal of THREAD87 was to spotlight women in vintage. We handpicked some of the finest local vendors to showcase their vintage treasures for two fun days packed full of uniquely stylish people with a quite cool, diverse, collection of items spanning many decades. Here are some photos from the weekend’s festivities. If you spy an item you might be into in the background, it may still be available! Originally founded back in 1894 as an oil cloth import service, the company J. Barbour & Sons was famously known for their waterproof waxed-cotton jackets.  Due to the infamously soggy British climate, these jackets became a staple of British life and soon spread in popularity across the world.  Today, many similar waxed-cotton jackets are referred to as “Barbour Jackets”, whether made by Barbour or not!  Lady Diana was often seen sporting a Barbour throughout the 1980’s when she could certainly have had anything she wanted to wear.  We have quite a few currently in store, so stop by and pick one up.  If it’s good enough to keep British Royalty dry, it’s probably good enough for you, too!
