DON PEDROS, Brooklyn’s casa of rock with yet another FREE SHOW featuring FUCK SCHOOL (LiveFastDie), CHEESEQUAKE, THE AMPUTEES, MARVIN BERRY & THE NEW SOUND and THE WALDOS (Johnny Thunders & Heartbreakers). Down some $3 hot pepper-infused spicy vodka shots, slam a few Coronas and get ready to feel the burn.

THE WALDOS feature WALTER LURE of JOHNNY THUNDERS AND THE HEARTBREAKERS on guitar and vocals. This guy remains consistently awesome; cultivating heartbroken, loud and jangly punk savagery since before Carter left office. The ambush of familiar protopunk stompers are sure to make you dance while DJs ERIC DAVIDSON (New Bomb Turks’ author of We Never Learn) and SARAH BROUGH spin nothin’ but punk. So caliente!

But you better not blow your load, the party continues Saturday, May 21st at METROPOLIS with acoustic punkabilly roots tunes to soothe your hangover. Like the hair of the dog that bit ya, you’ll drool over BACKDOOR STAN, SWEET TOOTH NELSON and BROWNBIRD RUDY RELIC while DJ COWBOY MARK takes command of your dancing shoes and the 20% OFF SALE CONTINUES!!

After, the Metropolis gang will head over to BROOKLYN FIREPROOF for the final blowout. To start, Brooklyn’s THE PEACE-KILLERS (Ex-Humans, Foster Care) features dissonant, bluesy wailing with songs more stripped down than a centerfold. Dirty, shambolic rock duo, THE PSYCHED (Tunnel of Love) will follow, with reverb and riffs for all the punks and degenerates. THE JOHNNY ILL BAND (Terrible Twos) from Detroit feature veterans of the RETURN OF DETROIT show, where, if you were foolish enough to miss TIMMY’S ORGANISM (Clone Defects, Human Eye) check out what you missed here. Otherwise, you should know full-well to expect a bombardment of weirdo-punk slime to twist your head and crack your spine. Embrace the madness and prepare to meet WHITE MYSTERY. Led by fiery redhead ALEX WHITE, these ginger siblings belt out a soul-driven-psych-tainted garage surge through pounding drums and gutturally gorgeous vox. Get their new LP, Blood and Venom at the show.

By now, you might be seeing double, but you’re not hallucinating that sexy half-naked-bunny-man taking the stage. It’s… NOBUNNY!! A perfect blend of bubblegum, power-pop, lo-fi antics and three-chord-retardation, San Francisco’s JUSTIN CHAMPLIN and company have matured a bit since the first LP, Love Visions hit the streets. They certainly haven’t grown up, however, as their new record, First Blood, makes it plain to see. Laden with catchy hooks, silly, sharp and lascivious lyrics, NOBUNNY is like a striptease and a children’s TV show partying together to the sounds of your favorite Ramones song. Can you say dance party??

I’d be remiss to add that DJs CHRIS MILLSTEIN (Mondo Kim’s Video) and MICK COLLINS (The Gories, The Dirtbombs) will be spinning inside and outside for your backside, while your favorite Yankee Candleista (and front man for The Stalkers) ANDY ANIMAL hosts the party with giveaways, colorful anecdotes and tasty treats.

FADER contributors cross boroughs, counties and states to find fine thrifted and vintage pieces on the cheap for our column, Thrintage. This week, Kayla Monetta hit up the East Village to check out Metropolis Vintage.

Walking into this store is like a time warp back to an edgier St. Marks, bringing back predominately ’80s inspired prints and styles sprinkled with a western feel, stuff you can imagine old-school East Village kids wearing. Metropolis is a bit pricey, but everything is one of a kind so it’s worth it.

Metropolis is the very first vintage store that I fell in love with when I first came to the city. I saw some gorgeous boots in the window and I wandered right in. Turns out, Metropolis is famous for carrying about a billion vintage boots and adding aged gold studs to them. Boots are in the $50 range, but the popular lace up studded versions can be up to $195 a pair.

Both leopard print and floral-lined jean jackets are what I would call ’80s masterpieces.

Liz Clairborne vintage floral dresses are always a summer staple, and Metropolis delivers some amazing prints. This Navajo styled shirt is another summer look.

With the days getting colder and shorter, the good folks at Metropolis Vintage and Brooklyn Fireproof are practically doing a public service with their upcoming night of hot, sweaty rock n roll from Detroit to keep us out past curfew. From the Motor City come four bands and guest DJ Mick Collins (Gories/Dirtbombs) to help you shake off the chills and get in the groove with some booze drenched garage punk mayhem.

Next up you have the Terrible Twos who will immediately up the dose of snotty, chaotic and brazen punk from a bump to a few lines at the very least. These rapscallions make quite the pleasing ruckus that blends manic vocals, damaged/delightful punk and a ferocious organ into a perfect storm of off-kilter craziness. Their LP on X!/Criminal IQ Records is a fine testament both to the legacy of their hometown as well as their own ability to reinvent the out of control style Detroit has honed for decades.

Timmy Vulgar is practically a household name to weirdo-punk aficionados. Since his days fronting the futuristic mutant noise that was Clone Defects, and now the equally deranged and inventive Human Eye, Vulgar has been quite busy. Not enough, however, to stop him from a solo-project under the moniker Timmy’s Organism. With the LP Rise of the Green Gorilla recently released on Brooklyn-based Sacred Bones label, Timmy’s Organism bring a bizarre batch of punk mystery that mixes elements of Chrome, Beefheart, Pere Ubu/Rocket From the Tombs along with Vulgar’s own unique blend of bleakness and twisted melodies. Truly an incomparable frontman with a sound that can only be hinted at, Timmy’s Organism promises to be a sight and sound not to be missed.

As we begin to ease towards the later part of the evening, drink in hand and mind still partially unblown, Tyvek will be taking the stage to finish the job with an onslaught of frenetic rawness that’s as demented as it is danceable. For the past six years these upstarts have consistently let their jagged guitars cut a swath across the ear canals of listeners with a style that heaps all things punk from the free-loving sixties to the me-generation eighties. Keeping the spirit of things loose and loaded, Tyvek promise to take us down a catchy road of psych-punk euphoria.

As if this wasn’t enough to make you lucky schmucks shill out the eight bucks for the evenings festivities, Guest DJ Mick Collins of Gories and Dirtbombs acclaim will be spinning the hits all night. A living legend and a true tastemaker in the garage punk underground, Collins will keep things raucous and rowdy all night long.

If you foolish enough to work Sunday mornings you’d better call out sick or quit altogether. Saturday Nov 20th promises to be, amongst other things, an epic squall of battered punk fury, a booze drenched party of shaking and stomping and a momentous celebration of all things Detroit in our own Brooklyn backyard. Don’t miss out!
